ABOUT the AUTHOR

Lynette Smith was born in Montana near Glacier National Park, the last of five children of small town evangelical Protestant pastors. For the bulk of her youth, she  lived with her parents on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Shiprock, NM, and as a young adult, assisted missionaries in Southeast Asia.

In the midst of graduate studies for a Masters in Old Testament biblical theology, Lynette converted to the Orthodox Church. Her master’s thesis was on Hannah’s Hymn: An Exercise in Contemporary Orthodox Hermeneutics.  She has taught Bible studies in both Protestant and Orthodox churches, and currently serves as chanter in her home parish, St. Columba Orthodox Church.

Lynette hopes to continue to provide readers with personal reflection and biblical gleanings from an Orthodox Christian perspective in the years to come. Her next book project, He Will Console Us, aims to provide readers with ancient and fresh insights into Old Testament Noah and the flood.

She lives with her husband, Dennis, in Colorado.
